Prairie Plein Air Artists

The second paint out of the season will take place June 9th, 2021 (Wednesday) at Ft Lincoln State Park south of Mandan. Meet in the visitors center parking at 6:00PM and we will paint till 8:30PM. You will need a park pass.

The 2021 Paint Out Season for Prairie Plein Air Artists Group will begin June 6th, 2021 at FT Mandan State Park west of Washburn, ND. The park is approximately 2 miles west of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive center. We plan to paint on Sunday June 6th from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. A great place to paint on the Missouri River bottoms!

What a gorgeous fall evening last night for our final scheduled paint out of the season! Hopefully, should our fall continue to be conducive to painting outdoors, members would feel free to continue on your own. Our scheduled paint out season will resume in the spring! Thanks to all who participated our 15 scheduled 2020 paint outs!

Our final scheduled paint out for 2020 will be Tuesday Sept 22^nd from 5:00PM to 7:30PM. This new location offers two areas to paint from. The first is the new bridge area in the south west corner of Whispering Bay (a new man made lake area in south Bismarck) and Mike and Eva’s property at 3114 Fontenelle Dr just south of the bridge area. The leaves have begun to turn and by next week we should have a lot of good fall color!

Directions: The southwest corner of Whispering Bay (bridge area) is located by the junction of Langer Lane and Larson Rd. To get to Langer Lane take Riverwood Dr past the golf course, past the Pier Bar and Grill until it curves to the right you are now on Mills Ave (going toward Fox Island boat ramp) but take a left turn at the second left turn onto Whispering Dr. You will be at a roundabout, stay to the right on Langer Lane and continue south to the bridge area.  A short distance to the east on Larson Road from the Langer Lane junction is Fontenelle Drive you may enter the property at 3114 to paint.

September 16^th (Wednesday) – The Pier Bar and Grill Bridge, 1120 Riverwood Drive, Bismarck, 5:00PM to 7:30pm -Paint the bridge and/or marina area. Park either in the restaurant parking lot or cross the bridge to park in the boat ramp parking lot area.

September 8^th (Tuesday)- Missouri River from Mandan ND Side. Location is on the north side of the interstate and east of the Mandan archery range. If coming from Bismarck on Interstate 94 take exit 153 (the refinery exit). Turn south on Mandan Ave (go under interstate) go past the onramp entrance and take the next road (east) Division St NE, in a block or two take a left (north) on River Dr. NE which will take you north under the Interstate again. Stay on River Dr NE until you pass the archery range then continue to drive east to the river there will be a small parking area there. Or you can come from the east Main Mandan Burger King and head north on Mandan Ave to get to Division St as well. We will paint from 5:00pm to 7:30PM.

August 29th (Saturday) – Bis-Man Farmers Market-Kiwanis Park-318 South Washington St, Bismarck, 10:00AM to 1:00PM

Paint Out- August 18th (Tuesday) Dave and Deb Larson, 3600 England St, Bismarck, ND. We were invited to return for a second paint out this year by the Larsons. The home in south Bismarck is set back off the road to the west in the trees on a gravel driveway. They have 7 acres of Missouri River bottom land with mature trees. The property is nicely landscaped, flowers and trees abound.  Paint from 5:30PM to 8:00PM. This paint out replaces the originally scheduled Medora trip which we cancelled due to pandemic issues.

August 11th (Tuesday)- McDowell Dam Park, 1951 93^rd St. NE, East of Bismarck just past the Apple Creek Country Club, Meet at the far north (last) parking lot. 5:30PM to 8:00PM

August 1st& 2nd (Saturday & Sunday)- Bismarck Arts and Galleries Association -Capital A’Fair, Capitol Grounds, Bismarck- 9:00AM to 12:00PM each day- We will paint in the area in front of the State Library and Heritage Center, which is on the east side of the Capital Mall.
